Baseball Instead of KnittingSeptember 22, 2006 A bunch of us knitters played hookey from our normal Stitch n' Bitch evening and went to a Houston Astros game. |

| Our seats were sort of spread out through the ballpark, so we met outside before the game. From L to R: Sharon, Maya, me, Jet, Jennifer (who arranged the whole thing), and Amy. The Astros were playing the Cardinals. There is a strange, disproportionate number of Cards fans in our Houston knitting group. (I only wore an Astros cap because I wanted to wear a red hat to match my shoes, and we only have blue Cardinals caps in this house.) |
| So Chris and I get our beers and hotdogs. It's a solid baseball routine for us. We find our seats and within 30 seconds, half of my hotdog toppings have squished out onto my white shirt. Classic! I was even eating it from the little paperboard boat so that this wouldn't happen! |
| Another one for the series! One couple, two team caps. | |
| Again, my lap. I've mentioned several times that I'm a slave to The GERD. I only ate part of my hotdog because The GERD didn't like it. But guess what! The GERD likes beer and peanuts! I consumed with restless abandon. My new diet is now cereal, milk, soup, beer, and peanuts. |
| At one point during the game (the Cards were winning), Batman... | |
| ...And Superman unsuccessfully tried to get The Wave going. I kinda hate The Wave nowadays, so I was no help to them. |
| While most of the other knitters were somwhere over in this area... | |
| Sharon, her husband, and Liz were a few rows behind us. I didn't know that Sharon saw me snapping this picture until after I took it...then I looked at photo on the camera and saw her smiling back at me. Made me laugh. |
| It was a really exciting game. The Cards were winning for most of it, then the Astros pulled ahead by one run in the bottom of the 8th. Here's Chris in his rally cap. The Astros won the game, so we were there for the fireworks and screaming and carrying on. |
| Then, around 3am this morning, for no reason, I turn on this lamp. Chris said, "Oh - it's bright!", and I turned it off. Then he asked me why I did it, and I answered that I had no idea. My arm was suddenly posessed by a demon that was afraid of the dark or something. I've never had such an almost-sleepwalking thing happen to me before! I hope this is the end of it! |
| And your dose of dogs for the day... We must remain as close to you as possible while you are on the computer. We will not allow for anything except your ass on the very edge of the bench while trying to update your website. You will tolerate this because we are cute. | |

Oooo...one last thing. A question for crafty people... I need to find a source for buttons for a traditional Norwegian sweater. I really don't even know what I'm looking for, but I know I want them to be traditional (whatever that means) and pretty. I don't know where to start! Any ideas for me? |
