A Cry for Help

January 21, 2007

How pathetic is this title? Hopefully just pathetic enough.

It's one of those fast-topic-changing days, so don't fall behind.

First, I need some help with verypink. I've been doing everything myself for years and years, (lovingly writing all of the html by hand and FTP-ing it up to the server), but I need to make some changes.

It all started when Notify List (the free service that keeps my mailing list straight) sort of bonked-out. So I looked into a new service, but it requires RSS.

I've looked into RSS publishing before, but it sure is a lot easier with blogging software, which I don't use. I talked with the guy who hosts verypink, and his servers don't support most blogging software programs, anyway.

So I'm stuck. I need to offer RSS. I need a new mailing list service. I need to make some changes to verypink, and I might need a new host. I want to keep verypink unique-looking, but some things need to change.

I've managed to stay very independent up to now, but it is time that I asked for help. Can you help? Please leave me a comment or an email!
As I sit here begging for help with verypink, Chris is in the other room watching the SECOND football game today. Football does not interest me. In fact, I find the sounds that come from the tv annoying.

Can't they play the game without all that shouting?
On to the other men of the house...

There is no point to posting this photo, it is just cute. I fell asleep in this chair (during the first football game) and I woke up to find these dogs all around me.

Gus was off sitting by himself somewhere.

Oh - if you were worried about us freezing to death during the SEVERE WINTER WEATHER BLAST, don't. It was back up to 66 degrees today.
Lou has an important announcement since the winter blast: he has grown a winter coat. It has mostly presented itself in a frill around his neck...
...Making him look like this lizard.
I usually end with a dog photo, but I'm going to end with knitting today.

I bought this Twisted Sisters beaded scarf kit, and I have mixed feelings about it.

  • it is pretty (yay!)
  • it is my first knitting project with beads (yay!)
  • it was over 40 bucks (hmm...)
  • for that much money, I was surprised that I only got one hank of yarn and one bag of beads (boo!)
  • also for that much money, I was surpised that the yarn is just rayon and cotton (boo!)
  • when the description said that the beads were "pre-strung", I thought they would be pre-strung on to the yarn, not just a piece of string (wha??)
I have certainly learned a lesson about reading online descriptions more carefully.
