Clickable image Today my friend's birthday. Her name is Liz, and she is from Manchester, England. We were both expats living in Holland at the same time. This is a photo of the birthday card she sent me this year. I feel so stupid, but I DON'T GET IT. I'm a worldly enough person...I've lived overseas, I watch EastEnders FAITHFULLY EVERY WEEK AND EVEN PAY A SUBSCRIPTION PRICE TO GET IT. Why can't I get the joke here? Can one of you Brits help me out with this? Happy Birthday, Liz!

And you thought Halloween was over. I had a Lasik-surgery-one-year-follow-up appointment on Wednesday. I'm having some non-Lasik related problems, and they had to dye my eyes to get a better look. I've had my eyes dyed before with that orange stuff on a strip of paper, but this was different. It was blood-red drops in a bottle. I looked like I was tragically bleeding from my eyes. As soon as the doctor left the room for a second, I snapped this little memory to keep and cherish.

| Do you suppose this guy is related to Mr. Peanut? He sure has a big head. | |
Conversation Chris and I had in the car: ME: Man, did you see that? That lady just changed two lanes and cut everyone off, without even signaling! What a beeotch! CHRIS: Can you cut her some slack?? She's trying to have a phone conversation! Snort.

On the needles: The Last of Eleven Knit Christmas Presents. This is obviously the wrong side, but I'll just bet that you knitters can tell what the front looks like. Please don't say in the comments what the front looks like. The recipient of this gift will be trolling the comments.

These strange little pods have been popping up all over downtown Houston. They are called Bike Lids, and they are private little bicycle garages. I realize these are there to encourage Houstonians to bicycle to work and all, but I find them so strange! Here is a little American/Dutch comparison regarding bicycles: Bicycle Parking AMERICAN: Bike Lids; DUTCH: anywhere, with a plastic grocery bag tied over the seat to keep it dry Bicycle Clothing AMERICAN: anything to look like Lance Armstrong; DUTCH: clothes Reason for Bicycling AMERICAN: Healthy exercise!; DUTCH: How else am I going to get to shopping/school/work/my dealer's house?

I'll leave you with a photo of these two long-time buddies. Happy Weekend!
