Fun with the Camera, June 2006

I have a secret I've been keeping about verypink. These past few frequent updates aren't just what I'm doing until I catch up, but actually the new pace I'm going to maintain for verypink. That means that you can visit this site all the dang time, and there will be new content. I kept it a secret because I wanted to try it out for a few days to see if I actually had the strength to give up The People's Court every day and work on the site. And I do! Such strength! (And Tivo.)

Another note: there is a link at the bottom of this page to Notify List, where you can sign in with your email to receive reminders from me after I update. Notify List is a good program that doesn't use your email address for any spam or anything. And I promise that I won't send more than a note a week. I've heard feedback from some of you that you really like to get email reminders...so make it easy on me and sign up for the list.

Here we go...

Getting ready...
Liftoff...

In flight...
Splash!

I found this cool feature on our camera. No, the camera isn't new. I just never went exploring around in the menus before, so I never new we had this rapid photo dealie.
I discovered pretty quickly that this cool camera feature is wasted unless there is some good action going.

Watch the dog here.
He...
barely...
moves.

It was really hot that day, so I couldn't get any of my boys to give me any more fast-action to shoot. Everyone just sort of sat around the rest of the day.
Random photo time!

This house is just one block over from us, and it's called The Beer Can House. Years ago the owners covered the house and everything around it in flattened beer cans. It's a very popular site. People bring their visiting relatives to see it. Tour buses stop by so the tourists can take pictures. During last year's baseball playoffs, there was a Chicago news crew in front of it. Now the big story is that the house is going to be restored to it's former glory.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I can't stand this thing. I'm cool with folk art and all, but come on. A house covered in flattened, faded, filthy beer cans? To make it worse, it sounds like an off-key wind chime factory when you walk past.

But people do seem to get a kick out of it.
