Gallery of Christmas KnitsPart 6, My PalsJanuary 15, 2007Finally, we've reached the last Christmas Knits posts! These two knits were made for a couple of my friends that are now long-distance friends, because Chris and I have moved twice in the last three years. I don't get to see them as often, but I can still knit for them. |

| This is the Tzarina Capelet from Wrap Style. I made this for my friend Michele who lives in Seattle. She is a therapist, and I thought this would suit her because she can wear it while seeing patients. (Also, her office seems to have very little temperature control...she freezes in the winter and bakes in the summer. She's a good candidate for handknits.) | |

The yarn I used for this was stuff that I snagged at the Yarn Swap party...it is recycled sari silk and wool. I love the color changes, as well as the thick to thin changes in this yarn. You can see in this photo that the construction was a little strange. It was one of those times that I decided not to hurt my brain by thinking too much, and just followed the pattern to see what I would get. In the end, the pattern knew what it was doing. |
| I found these lovely handmade glass buttons that happen to pick up many of the colors in the yarn. It's always fun to give handknits to Michele, because she does all of the appropriate gushing and thanking. She gave me a quick call the other day just to tell me that she was on her way out the door wearing her capelet...that was the whole reason for the call! She couldn't stay on the phone, but she wanted me to know that she was thinking about me. Awww. |

| This last of the Christmas knits is the Tweed Beret from Interweave Knits Magazine, Winter 2006 issue. (The link goes to the designer's site.) This was knit for my friend Ann, an American living in Holland. I made her this to match the Lady Eleanor Stole she got for her birthday. Both Lady Eleanor and this beret were knit in Noro Silver Thaw. Ann says she's stylin' now when she walks down to the market to do her shopping...and that she watches coatcheck girls more carefully when she hands them her handknits. |

| Doesn't this beret make Gus look French? Man, I can't believe that I've turned into one of those people who puts a human's hat on a dog and thinks it's cute. Just stop me before I put sunglasses on these poor beasts. |
