| Excuse me, Lou. | |
| I have finally finished my longest on-going project EVER. These socks have been my Portable Project, meant to keep me busy in doctors waiting rooms and bank lines. Well, I guess I don't really do much waiting, since these have been in-progress for about ten months. Not any more! Basic, toe-up pattern, made with Socks That Rock. Photo styling a total ripoff of Caro. | |
| Sneaky time! If you read The Crochet Dude, you know that 90% of what Drew makes is a secret. He shows tiny, close-up shots of the stitches, without revealing his designs. (Until they appear in a magazine or something.) I was over at Drew's house the other day, and I devised a plan. I asked him for another glass off water to get him out of the room. He left, and I snapped this photo. So the cat's out of the (crocheted) bag now! Isn't it great? It's the perfect size and strap length. Now that it's not a secret anymore, I suppose he's going to have to offer up the pattern. (right, Drew??) | |
| Drumroll, please... I've knit several things over the past few months for the Great Alaskan Unborn Niece or Nephew, some of them leaning heavily towards "girly". But it's okay! She's a girl! Immediately after my sister told me, I got online and ordred pink yarn. Of course I would have been happy with a new nephew, but boy do I love ordering pink yarn. | |
| My sister also told me the baby's name - Molly Renee. This is significant, because my name is Staci Renee, and my grandma's first name was Renee. So Phyllis is naming the new baby after both of us. Such an honor. | |
| The pink baby blanket in the last two photos is my own baby blanket, knit for me by my Grandma Renee about 39 years ago. My plan is to make a copy of it for Molly Renee - to keep the Renee/blanket tradition going. I sat down with some leftover Baby Ull and figured out the lace pattern. I think I've got it. | |
| It's my birthday week. Yes, week. My 39th birthday is Thursday the 26th. Since I've become an adult, I've made it a habit to celebrate the entire week. What does that mean? Well, first off I don't do anything I don't really want to do. But the real fun is that I eat dessert with every meal for seven days. Birthday Week calories and carbs do not count. This is one of the four birthday cards my mom sent me...we have a family tradition of sending several cards. |
