Knit On, GrasshopperOctober 13, 2006 A little knitting zen might be in order, here on Friday the 13th. |

| Before I get into the knitting stuff, here is my second collage. I picked a different (less flattering) photo, and I think the results are more accurate. This is a terrible photo, actually. Lookie there! Bette Davis! People have been telling me that I look like her since I was a kid. And Adriana Karembeu and Natalie Imbrugila came up AGAIN. Hmm. First collage is here. Also check out these: Kristin's Kat's (scroll down a little) Jen's Rosie's (scroll down a little) |

Here is where I need the knitting zen. Because there is NO TIME FOR MISTAKES as I work through Christmas knitting. I decided to make this little number for my sister for Christmas. I made her a Lion & Lamb Clapotis last year, and she truly loves it and wears it almost every day. And it is totally wearing out. The colors have faded and it's starting to pill. I needed to make her something a bit more durable this year. |
| I checked my gauge, cast-on 416 stitches on 29" circular needles, and got to work. Since this shawl is knit length-wise, the stitches were really smashed up on the needles. But I could see that it was pretty. Then I worked the bind off row. La, la, la...binding-off...la, la, la. Wait for it... |
|
| It was only then that I saw my problem. I'm thinking of some very Bad Words right now. This thing is 12 feet long. Twelve [censored] feet long. AGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! Sorry, Sis...you will not be getting this for Christmas. I am not in the mood for reknitting this [censored], [censored], piece of [censored] right now. I am deeply in hate with it, actually. I've been knitting for about 30 years and this sort of thing can still happen. |
|
| In much happier knitting news, the Mystery Sari Silk project is finished... | |
| Orange yarn has been purchased for a school-colors kind of gift... | |
| The requested "intense blue" project is now underway... | |
| And some gorgeous glass buttons (for another Christmas FO) came in the mail yesterday. Shiny, sparkly, and pretty. But they are shank buttons, so we'll just have to see how they place on the knitted garment. |
|
| But wait! The mailman just brought more! The part of the livingroom that used to always look like this... |
|
| Will now look like this. Thanks to my new at-home-knitting-all-in-one-station-basket. Yeah, I can barely lift the basket, but this corner sure looks better. |
|
| Lou looks like a different dog in this photo taken from the floor, looking up at him. He could use a facelift. |
