The Most Alpha Reindeer of All

December 11, 2006

Gussy the red-nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose!

This won't make sense until you get to the bottom of the post.

Ivy is complete!

Pattern: Ivy from knitty.com
Yarn: Elann Quechua in Cornflower
Changes made to pattern: None! Amazing!
It isn't really a good idea for me to give my comments on Ivy right now, because I have a problem with really disliking things for a while right after I've finished them. I'm not sure why that is. Part of it might be that it took me ALL DAY to seam this baby. I don't like seaming.

But today is a new day, and I can look at it now and see that it's pretty, I guess.

Even though the seaming took somewhere between 6 and 8 hours, I must mention that the pieces fit together beautifully. No fudging. No frogging and re-knitting to make it fit.

But now I'm working on the next project...
This mohair is giving us hours of endless fun. Remember the Elvis wigs from Friday?

Chris picked up the inch or so of the mohair on the needles, held it to his chin, and made himself into a Quaker. Complete with stitch markers.

If we had a stovepipe hat around the house, he would have been Lincoln.
A few years ago, when I was walking the dogs around Christmastime, we passed a little girl who saw the boys and squeeled. "EEEEEEEE! THEY'RE REINDEER DOGS!" Sort of an overreaction, but I guess that's how children are.

She was right.
Don't you think?
