I'm Melting...July 17, 2006 Random, Monday-type stuff. Knitters might be interested in the Fair Isle doo-dad video at the bottom of this post. Remember, we are still giving the new guestbook a trial run, so give it a try if you feel inspired. |

| For the love of puppies. Do people actually survive summers here? Do I stand a chance? I took this photo yesterday, and today is supposed to be even hotter. My history in Alaska, Seattle, and Holland has not prepared me for this. |

| An important conversation via email... ME: what is with the weird piece of asteroid gum you left on the counter? CHRIS: That gum is Dentyne Ice. Those are ice cubes, not asteroids. ME: then why are they flying? Ice cubes don't fly. CHRIS: Maybe they are falling, not flying. Have you seen how fast ice falls from our dispenser? ME: They look more like that blue ice that falls from airplanes. Maybe that's what they're supposed to be! CHRIS: It's pooopeee !!! You chewed pooopeee! |

| Maybe I should remember to put the cap back on the nerve gas when I'm finished with it. | |
| Basenji ears are thin enough to allow light to shine through. | |

I'm posting this to make my sister Phyllis flip out. This is Baby Ike, taken before I knew him. I can just hear her squealing and trying to squish the computer screen. |
| And here he is, all growed up. | |

And the knitting I promised. I've been using this fancy little doo-dad called a Clover Yarn Guide...it is $4.49 worth of pain-free Fair Isle. Here's a little movie to see it in action. In the movie, I'm alternating between colors each stitch. I really, really tried to learn to knit with one color in each hand, and I was so clumsy at it that I gave up. Please excuse my poor narration. I'm not good at knitting and talking about it at the same time. Also, it's strange to watch your own hands knitting on video! |
