Just Add YarnMay 11, 2007 You know you're gonna have some fun when... | |

| ...A box with "Ashford" printed all over it arrives at your home. | |
| Just Add Yarn. Oh yeah, baby, I got yarn. | |
| My Ashford Knitters Loom has arrived! It is really cool. | |
| The last time I did any weaving was in elementary school, when I made potholders from polyester fabric loops. So I don't really have any weaving experience for comparison, but I'm having such a good time. Even though I've barely started my first project. The loom is making me look at yarn with fresh eyes. Woven fabric is an entirely different animal from knitted fabric. | |

You might remember this shawl I made last year, knit from Berroco Suede. |

(If you do remember, you'll recall that it was a disaster. It was all scrunched up lengthwise on circular needles, so I didn't notice that it was 12 feet long until I cast-off. Ugh.) Anyway, take a look at how the knitted fabric looks... |
| ...Now look at the same yarn in a woven fabric. What a difference, huh? Please excuse the sloppiness of my work...this is my first project on the loom. I'm sure I'll get better. I'm excited to play with different yarns to see how they look. Yay! This is a really, really, really fun birthday present. | |
| Here's Lou, claiming this fence as his property. Yesterday Lou added several things to the already long list of his possessions, including: 3 iron fences, 5 telephone poles, a stop sign, a magnolia tree, a pygmy palm, a fire hydrant, a tuft of grass, a decorative rock, and the empty lot two streets over. In fact, Lou owns more property in Houston than Chris and I can ever hope to own. He's quite a real estate mogul. Have a great weekend! |
