Please Don't Lick the WindowApril 4, 2007 The title doesn't make any sense until you get to the last photo... | |

| First, a story. This box came in the mail from Lantern Moon - the folks who make all kinds of beautiful knitting accessories - baskets, totes, and needles...including the ittybitty Sox Stix. You might remember that I broke one of these precious, ebony needles - so I wrote the company to see if they would send a replacement. | |
| And they did! For free! Lantern Moon, we love you! I happened to look at the packing slip. It said that there were TWO Sox Stix in the box. | |
| So I carefully pulled out all of the paper to see if the other needle had slid out somewhere. No luck. | |
| Then I went back to the little rolled-up bit of cardboard where I found the first one, used a knife to carefully slit open the tape, unrolled the cardboard and found nothing. I started carefully tearing away at the cardboard - and I felt a SNAP. They had slid the other needle so deeply into the gaps in the cardboard that I would have never been able to get it out safely. Unless, I suppose, I had soaked the cardboard in water for a while until it fell apart around the needle. Sigh. So, not really a sad story, because I got my replacement needle. (That's what I really wanted to tell you.) These needles might just be too delicate for someone like me. | |
| I haven't said anything until now, but I've been worried about this sweater. I've completed the back and one of the fronts of the Dollar and a Half Cardigan, and the pieces weren't looking right. Even though I'm knitting the sweater with plenty of ease, the pieces were looking really, really skinny. I didn't want this sweater to be a failure because I refused to listen to my tiny inner-voice telling me that something was wrong. But...a little time with the steamer and the blocking board, and everything is going to be okay. Whew. The pieces are blocking out to measurements. I honestly don't know why I let myself worry for so long. | |
| Ike, move your head please. | |
| Thank you. In the comments for Monday's post Linda (no blog) told me I should invest in one of these peg counters to help keep track of four different things at once. I realized that I already have one, but I had totally forgotten about it. It's a HUGE help with the left front. I made labels for the four diferent things I'm counting - lace pattern, cable, v-neck decreases, armhole decreases. No more tally marks. Thanks for the tip, Linda! This piece is looking really cool. It has a a big, fat 6-over-6 cable, or what Drew calls a "fluffy" cable. "Fluffy" describes it well. | |
| Please don't lick the window. Lou was in a really silly mood, so I wanted him to follow me outside for some photos in natural light. He didn't follow me outside. This is what he did instead. Not the photo I was shooting for, but he does have a cute tongue. |
