Saint Parasceva at Stitch 'n Bitch*?

November 29, 2006

I should have guessed that she would exist. There is a patron saint for everything else...

*"Stitch 'n Bitch" is what we knitters call our get-togethers. The term is thought to have originated during World War I.

Here she is, Saint Parasceva.

A little prezzie from my friend Melissa.
I'm not entirely sure of the scope of her job as a patron saint...but I think I have the bases covered here. She is the ONLY magnet on the fridge. We'll see if good knitting things happen.

I have to say...Parasceva may be here to watch over me as a knitter, but she didn't help much yesterday in watching over me as a person. I had a stomach ache most of the day, then I was verbally assaulted by a police officer for NO REASON (really, I didn't even come close to doing anything wrong), and later I tripped while walking the dogs - twisting my ankle and scraping my knee. Is there a patron saint for klutzes with stomach aches who get yelled at by cops?
I can't be sure, but St. Parasceva might have something to do with this success.

This is Eve, from the Twisted Sisters "Enchantress" book. The cool thing about this pattern is that the scarf is entirely reversible, with no "wrong" side. The uncool thing about this pattern is that is has a 12-over-12 cable twist. Those last few stitches off the cable needle are a bitch.

The yarn is Brooks Farms, and it is so lovely. After kniting with it for a bit, it's hard to believe I passed up on buying any at Kid 'n Ewe.
The pursuit of beauty isn't painful, really. It's just ridiculous.

Right in the middle of all of my bad luck yesterday, I did get a really good cut and color.
Conversation Last Night:

ME: What does Ike want from under the sofa?
CHRIS: I dunno. I'll take a look.
Chris gets down to eye-level with Ike and looks under the sofa.
CHRIS: I'm going to get the camera.
No wonder the toy box has been looking a little empty.
