This update is dedicated to our trip to...you guessed it...Paris! We took a long weekend trip in May 2005 and had a fabulous time. It was just a 3.5 hour train ride down there from The Hague! |
Right after we arrived, we checked into the hotel and set out in search of food. We found a nice cafe near the hotel and sat down...then Wonder Woman walked down the street right in front of us. Not sure exactly what she was doing, but she has her golden rope around this guy to make him tell the truth. Sort of a strange introduction to Paris.

As a way to see the city, we bought a 2-day pass on a double-decker, open-air bus. These buses run all over the major sights of the city every 7 minutes. Here is a picture Chris took of the two of us. You see that we're wearing our little tourist-ey earphones to listen to the sight-seeing commentary. |
Here's a photo taken from the bus...when the Louis Vuitton shop is under construction, regular scaffolding and tarps just won't do. |
Our hotel was just a few minutes from the Eiffel Tower, so we have about a million pictures of it. Here is the first.... |
Paris is competing with London for the 2012 Olympics... |
And a nice shot of the Eiffel Tower all lit up at night. |
Everywhere you look in Paris, it looks like this! It is hard to believe that a whole city can be this beautiful, with this much attention to detail. |
A nice shot of the Grand Palace, the Seine River, and a famous bridge (I can't remember the name of the bridge). |
Before you ask, yes, we took a walk down the Champs-Elysees. |
All that water in the fountains made me thirsty! |
I was trying to take a picture of the kid on the bicycle, but Chris got in the way (haha). You can see the 3000 year-old Egyptian obleisk in the background. |
One of the Rose Windows, outside Notre Dame. |
Notre Dame |
A detail of Notre Dame showing gargoyles. |
Outside Notre Dame again...why would an artist chose to depict John the Baptist with his head off, instead of on? Plus, he looks perfectly content holding his own head in his hands. Strange. |
Inside Notre Dame, Chris made an offering, and I got a pic. |

Having some lunch at the George V... |
