40 is the new 21Or, Chris' 40th Birthday PartyJanuary 8, 2007I mentioned before that all of the boys in my house (human and 4-legged) have their birthdays within a few weeks of each other. Chris' birthday party took place on Saturday. Forty is the new 21 only because 19 years of maturation doesn't really change how one "parties". The parties may be pretty much the same as they were back then, but we're no longer worried about the cops showing up these days. And we actually have money for beer now. The Gallery of Christmas Knits will continue on Wednesday. |

| Here we are, sort of late in the evening. I handed the camera around to different party guests and found ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY photos on the camera the next day. Plus a few videos. |
| Here's the birthday boy, probably around 1 am. | |
| The doggies were behind a baby gate and stayed upstairs all night. They were, however, able to walk to the bottom of the stairs for pets and love from the guests. Lou looks kind of sad here, but trust me - he had fun making so many new friends. Even if there was a baby gate between them. |
| I'm not entirely sure how long the party lasted, because I had to be in bed by 4 am. FOUR IN THE MORNING, PEOPLE. Since only good parties last for nine hours, Chris is going to be able to brag about the success of this one until his 50th. I've kept the photos limited, because no one likes to own up to drunken dancing photos once the party's over. |
| When I went to bed, there were a lot of empty beer bottles (this is only a small sampling)... | |
| ...And a lot of empty food trays. I just noticed that someone's hand is in this photo, reaching for one of the few remaining pieces of cheese! |
| But... when I woke up a few hours later, the house was miraculously clean! There was no evidence of a party the night before... |
| Until I saw the recycling bin on the deck. Did the birthday elves come and clean the house? After four hours of sleep, I had a long road trip for Basenji Rescue business. Trust me, I slept well that night. Oh, and the "birthday elves" were actually Chris. He tidied up the whole house before he went to bed. He's a keeper. |
