Cardigan. Red. Asymmetrical.April 23, 2007 I've been breaking my "one-knitting-project-at-a-time" rule, so this sweater took much longer than expected. (Baby things are quick to knit, but when you make a LOT of them, well...) | |

| So here it is. I really tried to copy the photo from the magazine, but this was a self-portrait and I couldn't get it right. I even tucked my hair up into a head scarf to try to make it look shorter and whispy. I also couln't manage to line up the camera so that the bathroom behind me didn't show. Oh, well. You can see the sweater. | |
| Details: Pattern: Dollar and a Half Cardigan from the Spring Issue of Interweave Knits Magazine Yarn: Knit Picks CotLin in Moroccan Red Recipient: me! Major Pattern Modification: The pattern is written with the stripes in lace and reverse stockinette. I tried that, ripped it out, and went with stockinette instead. Notes: This sweater is the longest sweater I've ever made. Full Hip coverage. Also, I knit it one size bigger than my bust measurement would dictate, and I still ended up with a fitted sweater and no ease. | |
| Here is a detail of of the lace and stockinette stripes. In my opinion, the straight stockinette is plain, and therefore doesn't take anything away from the nice pattern of the lace. I think it also kept me from getting the "Michelin Man" look that other knitters are getting. | |
| This sweater has made me fall in LOVE with CotLin. I'm going to be looking for other cotton/linen projects just so that I can use this yarn again. As a tall person who usually needs to lengthen sleeves, I'm really happy with the sleeve length. Any sleeve that goes to my first thumb knuckle is a thumbs-up. | |
| Here's a detail of the left front. This is going to be a nice sweater to take on my trip to Alaska this summer. Success! | |
| Mandatory doggie photo... I've mentioned it many times before, but these two do EVERYTHING together. If they were just a little bit closer, they might actually make a heart shape. Aww. |
