Sheltering in Place

Houston has not been spared from the arctic blast that has hit the US. Okay, maybe it only dropped to freezing for two days, but Houston can't handle that much cold.

The city was actually told to stay home for much of this week. So, that's what I did. Chris has been on a business trip since Monday...so it's been me and FOUR dogs.

I've been way outnumbered all week.

	I've spent the time at home productively, helping Ace (our foster dog) with his housetraining. While the other dogs get two hearty walks a day, Ace currently gets three additional, shorter walks. We've been accident free for 8 days now! (I'm not counting the one accident we had while it was sleeting outside. I wouldn't pee out there, either.)
	Ace has been with us for over a week, so I can see his personality coming through. He is a funny and sweet little man. He also seems to be putting on a little much-needed weight. No one told me how difficult it was to get a decent photo of a black dog. In most of the pics I have taken, you can't see his face at all!
	To be honest, one person and four dogs isn't an ideal ratio. I have to do the walks in two shifts, which has meant a lot of time out in the cold. Also, dinner time is a complicated pile of things to remember - two different kinds of food same medication, two dosages, for two different dogs a little canned food for everyone Ike and Gus get some green beans with their food, as part of their healthy-weight plan Gus needs his food mixed really well, or he won't eat it Once the food is on the floor (matching the right bowl to the right dog), I have to stand and watch over Ace. He's a slow eater, and the other boys will get sick of watching him eat, and move in on his food.
	But if you ask these guys, I'm an excellent chef.
	With another three-year-old in the house, Lou has had a new best friend to play with...
	Even if he does stand a full head taller.
	Since Lou is entertained, Ike has had some time for peaceful chewing...
	And Gus has had time to finally kill the squirrel.
	As part of my "stash" busting project, I've spent my time in the house knitting up a bunch of small items to sell for fundraising. A few more Fetching, some baby items, etc. It's been fun, but I'm excited for Chris to come home today and for the weather to warm up. It's time for me to get out and have some conversations with humans again. If I can remember how.
