I have had this little peek-a-boo photo posted on my Knitting Page for months, but now I can show the whole sweater. |
| Pattern: Tie Cropped Cardigan (free pattern) Yarn: Knit Picks Shine in Butter; 60% Cotton, 40% Modal Knit for: My sister Kelli Notes: Kelli lives in Arizona, so she faces some of the same challenges as I do with sweaters. (As in never wearing them because it's too warm outside.) But she sometimes gets cold in the air conditioning at work. I went over the details of this sweater with our other sister, so that together we could get the color/size/etc right. |
| Wow! A little natural light really changes the color, doesn't it? This lightweight cotton sweater is working for her. Another Christmas knit success! Kelli likes the sweater, and it fits her well. In fact, she opened the present early and had already worn it by the time I talked to her on Christmas Day. (Baaaaad Kelli.) |
| My sister Phyllis' gift proved to be more of a challenge. Remember this 12-foot-long Berroco Suede disaster? (More here.) That was her gift, before I erased this mess from my memory. | |
| Luckily, I had a little extra time worked into my Christmas knitting schedule, and I was able to pull this one off. In fact, if I had seen this pattern before, I would have made this for her instead of the Berroco disaster. Pattern: Cabled Pocket Shawl (Free pattern again. Wow, I use a lot of Knit Picks!) Yarn: Knit Picks Sierra in Cranberry; 70% Wool, 30% Superfine Alpaca Knit for: My sister Phyllis Notes: In strong contrast to my sister in Arizona, my sister Phyllis lives in Alaska. She is always in need of anything to help her stay warm, and she's always appreciative enough of my gifts to keep me knitting more. | |
| The best feature of this shawl doesn't come out in the photo, because it's the way it feels. Not because the yarn is soft or anything...it's because of the size and weight of it. Wearing this shawl absolutely feels like you're being hugged. Not bad for a shawl, I say. I would have kept this for myself if I thought it would ever be cold enough in Houston to wear it. |
| Since I always try to include a dog photo when I can... Long after we had finished taking our Christmas photo, Gus stayed where he was, waiting for his solo photo shoot. (He sort of got one.) |
