Snap HappensApril 18, 2007 Here's a combination of what I wanted to post on Monday, plus some new stuff for today... | |

| Thanks to everyone for your kind words and concern for Abe. Considering his past history of neglect, it is delightful that there is so much concern for his well-being now. He so deserves it. After two xrays, there is a chance that he has a hairline fracture in his leg...but we're treating him for a soft-tissue injury right now. If he doesn't start feeling significantly better by Thursday, then we'll go back for more xrays. Regardless of what is going on in his leg (wrist?), he's going to be okay. The vet has ordered rest for two weeks. This photo shows the seriously improvised way we've kept him from going down the wood stairs. That's a window screen. Classy. (His injury is a result of slipping on the wood stairs.) | |
| The painkillers that Abe is taking now have made him feel too good. He needs to lay down, and stop limping around. Abe! See the bed? Lay down, please! I've been chasing him around the house with a dog bed for two days. Here's a question...can you still call it a "walk" if you end up carrying the dog for most of the way? | |
| Before I started to spend all of my time chasing Abe around with the dog bed, I dyed some yarn. My friend Lorelei brought back some wool & mohair blend yarn, plus some dyes and books on dyeing for me as a gift when she went to Taos, New Mexico. Such a nice gift! | |
| Now that I've dyed it this gold color, my plan is to knit this up into a scarf. Then I would like to handpaint some scarlet dye directly on to the finished scarf that will follow the pattern I've knit. Could be cool, could be a mess. Either way, I'm having a good time with it. | |
| Oh, I've been doing all kinds of new things. I-cord, anyone? I just bought a nifty little i-cord crank machine. Six feet of perfect i-cord in just a few minutes. Is this cheating? | |
| In the same box as the i-cord machine, I got a snap-attacher. Cheap and cheerful, I might add. You line everything up, and give it a whack with the hammer... | |
| And you got yourself half a snap. | |
| One more time for the other half...and bob's your uncle. I'm watching too much BBC America. That's the second British phrase I've used. The snap really suits this little sweater. I'm happy. I also put a snap in the little red sweater, but it took me a few tries. I destroyed a couple of snaps in the process. It's a handy little tool, but not foolproof. (The fool is me, in this case.) | |
| Finally, I must have found the "right" spot for the dog bed, and Abe is resting. Lou is actually comforting him here, and not trying to get him riled up to play. Whew. One last note - if you've emailed me or left a comment to which I have not replied, sorry! My email has been really messed up. I'm back up and running now... |
