Stash Monkey!

January 12, 2007

That funky monkey!

Okay, so I don't really have a stash, but I guess I have odds-and-ends left over from projects. I took a look at just how many I had a couple of weeks ago, and it's silly to store this much yarn. (I don't know how some of you do it.)

So I've been on a stashbusting kick since 2007 started. Can I still call it "stashbusting" even if it isn't really stash?

This is my second pair of Cable Footies from the One Skein book. I used up some Rowan Magpie for these.

The pattern for these is good, but I think they made some sacrifices to keep it just under one skein. Since this is my second pair, I made some improvements. Namely - an extra cable repeat on the cuff to lengthen, I went down a needle size from gauge to make them denser (they're plenty stretchy so they still fit fine), and I stopped decreasing at the toe earlier to keep the toes from being so pointy.

I'm not sure if I'll ever block these, but I think the toe would shape nicely if I did.

It's been chilly enough in Houston over the past few weeks to actually wear these! They're perfectly warm. You know how 100% wool is...warm, but never sweaty.
Ring, ring! Hello, bandwagon calling for Staci! Did you want a ride?

Yes, everyone is making a pair of Fetching, and I'm no exception. Since we've already seen so many of these, here's an interesting hand pose for you. I call this one "too many fingernails".
Here is a pair I made out of the extra Mimi yarn, adding a boarder of fluffy white in single crochet.

I made one change to the pattern for each of these Fetching...I skipped the picot border and added a decrease row before binding off. You'll see that these fit more snugly around my hands than the pattern photos show.
Open the doors and see all the people.

I knew the cables wouldn't show very well on this black pair.

It makes sense that so many people are knitting these. They are a fun, quick pattern that is a useful accessory. Fingerless gloves have proved to be perfect for dogwalking on chilly mornings.
My current stashbusting work-in-progress - Argosy. I had some extra Noro Silk Garden, and this is the perfect pattern for it.

I love the way the striping comes out with Noro yarns.
And Ace...well, Ace is doing really well. He is lovey and cute and sweet. We're going to continue to work on his housetraining before he goes up for adoption. I don't mind the chance to keep him a little longer.
In a Black and Tan drink, is the black on top or bottom?
