My So-Called Stress-Free Life

September 15, 2006

I'll be the first to admit that I live a pretty relaxed life. There aren't many demands on my time or my energy. I stay busy keeping up with the things I need to do, then I get to knit.

The last few days have not been as normal.

I've just re-read this complete post, and I realize that my breaking point for stress may be lower than most people's.

First off, The GERD. Who knew that a little acid reflux could control half your day? My doctor said that I need to give the meds a full month before we take the next steps.

I am a slave to the GERD.

Hand me that glass of milk.
Chris has been out of town a lot lately, even flying out on September 11. Chris' traveling does not usually bother me, but he's spent about half of the last month out-of-town.

It's like being a single (dog) mommy.

Single parenthood is stressful.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

I swear to god, these trucks only go backwards. The sounds penetrates my house and my soul.

This construction has turned this well-rested, happy woman into a bug-eyed, sleep-depraved lunatic.
And the last of my big stresses...

I've shown you Gus' little swolled-up face. He finally had to go get it lanced yesterday.

Since Basenjis are amazing escape artists (stress) and I am worried that the vet techs will let my dog get away (stress), I made sure I was there in the treatment room with them (stress). I'm really not squeamish, so I thought nothing of it. But it must have caused me more stress than I knew, because The GERD attacked, guns a-blazin'. I had stomach acids in my ears again.

Gus is doing just fine. He hardly notices that he has a Scarface-type gash on his cheek. He looks badass, doesn't he?
On to some NON-stressful things...

Since Christmas knitting is in full swing around here, I've decided to break my own rule and let myself have more than one project going at a time. This way I have a choice...I can pick up something with easy stockinette for movie watching, or something more difficult when the light is good and the house is quiet. (I can see now why most knitters have multiple projects going...I just can't understand how projects end up abandoned! Poor abandoned projects!)

This is a Christmas gift in the new heathered Wool of the Andes yarns from KnitPicks. This yarn is really pretty. And the price is beyond reasonable.
This photo captures the color pretty well. The yarn is heathered, but only slightly. The color is very rich. This project has cables that are going to show up nicely.
Another Christmas gift in Silk Garden. I like how lumpy this is before blocking (but I will like it even better blocked.)
A bit of non-injured doggie content...

Dinnertime!
